Participation in the Republican Surdoolympiad

15 PARTICIPANTS, 10 WINNERS: THE PRIDE OF THE BOARDING SCHOOL FOR CHILDREN WITH HEARING IMPAIRMENTS AND HARD OF HEARING NAMED UNDER TUKHTABOI GAFFOROV – BRIGHT PARTICIPATION IN THE REPUBLICAN SURDOOLYMPIAD

On May 2, 2025, the Republican stage of the first subject Surdoolympiad started at the State Educational Institution “Presidential Lyceum for Gifted Students of Tajikistan”. This event became a historical and unique event for Central Asia. The Olympiad provided a new opportunity for 184 students with hearing impairments from all over the country to demonstrate their knowledge and compete with their peers.

The boarding school for children with hearing impairments and hard of hearing named after Tukhtaboy Gafforov, located in the Khistevarz jamoat of the Bobojon Gafurov district, sent 15 active students to this prestigious competition, where they demonstrated their amazing abilities in the republican arena. Among them, 10 people were awarded honorable places – a result that is a great pride not only for the school, but also for the entire community. The project “Inclusive and Advanced Education for Vulnerable Children and Youth“, funded by the Government of Switzerland, made a significant contribution to the participation of 15 people in this large-scale event.

Khulkar Obidova (Grade 8b) – 3rd place, Russian language
Ollokhyor Kodirov (Grade 10v) – 3rd place, Russian language
Dilshod Ismatulloev (Grade 6a) – 3rd place, Mathematics
Mehrangez Shakhobaddinova (Grade 10a) – 2nd place, History
Samir Egamberdiev (Grade 7) – 2nd place, History
Abdushukur Muminov (Grade 9b) – 3rd place, Geography

Inspiring success stories:
These winners are are not just names on a list, they are living stories of inspiration and fortitude.
SADORBEK ISLOMOV, who took first place in Tajik, is passionate about poetry. He says: “I want to write poems about those who have no voice. The voice of our heart can reach the hearts of others.”
DILSHOD ISMATULLOEV, winner in mathematics, is calm and reasonable: “I love numbers. They do not speak, but they tell the truth. This Olympiad gave me the confidence that I can become an engineer.”
KHULKAR OBIDOVA, who took third place in Russian, shares: “I did not understand that language could be so beautiful. The teachers showed me that every word can touch someone’s heart.”

A CLEAR MESSAGE FROM TUKHTABOI GAFFOROV BOARDING SCHOOL:
These results are a clear message: knowledge is developed not by voice, but by love, will and a creative environment. Each student of the boarding school has proven that physical limitations are not an obstacle to progress if there is a favorable environment and the right support.

The director of the institution, teacher Nigina Oglukova, said: “This victory is the beginning of a new path. We, with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science and our partners, will open the doors of opportunity for each of our students.”
A look into the future:
The Surdoolympiad is not only a subject event, but also an important social and cultural innovation. It has shown that in our society it is necessary to create conditions for the development and recognition of every talented person, regardless of their physical abilities.
Students of the boarding school named after Tukhtaboy Gafforov reminded us all:

TALENT IS NOT IN THE VOICE, BUT IN THE HEART AND THE POWER OF THE MIND.
