The problem of emotional burnout of teaching staff is relevant all over the world, and Tajikistan is no exception, especially for teachers who work in specialized semi-closed institutions (boarding schools). Situations of extreme emotional stress lead to a progressive deterioration in the health of teachers, so they need psychological support, training in techniques for relieving emotional and muscular tension. In order to improve the health of teachers, within the framework of the project: “Inclusive and in-depth education for vulnerable children and youth”, which is financed by the Government of Switzerland, trainings were organized for the teaching staff of the state institution “Boarding school for orphans of the Executive government authority of the Sughd region in the Buston city and the state institution “Special boarding school for deaf and hard of hearing children named after Tukhtaboy Gafforov” of B. Gafurov district on the topic “Prevention of emotional burnout of teachers”. Highly qualified and experienced trainers with many years of experience were invited to conduct the trainings.
The trainings were held on January 3 and 4, 2025 in the training hall of the National Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Guliston city. 50 teachers from target boarding schools participated in the trainings.
The purpose of the training is to introduce teachers to the concept of “professional burnout”, analyze their own sources of negative experiences, relieve stress, identify the presence or absence of this syndrome in themselves, master methods of preventing emotional burnout syndrome, master methods and techniques for helping themselves and their colleagues in situations of professional stress.
During the training, the participants learned:
- to recognize the signs of emotional burnout: learned to identify the symptoms of emotional burnout in the early stages.
- to develop self-regulation skills: mastering techniques for managing stress, emotions and restoring resources.
- to look for resources: finding sources of energy and motivation that will help cope with burnout.
- to develop strategies to prevent recurrence of burnout in the future.
- to improve the quality of life: improve overall well-being and restore the balance between work and personal life.
Despite the fact that this kind of training was held for them for the first time, the participants during the training vividly and actively joined in the discussion about the causes of professional burnout and stress at work. Participants recognized and identified factors that contribute to stress management. Participants were provided with information about the stages of professional burnout, burnout symptoms, and were shown exercises aimed at combating stress at work. Participants especially noted the exercises aimed at relaxation. Exercises aimed at breathing control have generated great interest.
The training contributed to a decrease in the level of emotional burnout of teachers, the formation of a positive attitude towards themselves, towards life, and an increase in motivation for professional activity. The training also helped participants recognize the signs of burnout, learn to cope with stress, and restore vitality.
