First Series of Training Sessions for Youth Completed in Rushan District
The first series of capacity-building training sessions for youth has been successfully completed in Rushan District of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) as part of the project aimed at promoting modern agricultural technologies and youth entrepreneurship. A total of 24 training sessions were conducted across four thematic areas focused on strengthening the professional knowledge and practical skills of young farmers.
To ensure effective learning outcomes, participants were organized in advance into six groups, primarily based on their place of residence. This approach helped create comfortable learning conditions, encouraged active participation, and enabled more effective practical work in smaller groups. All training sessions were conducted at secondary schools in Rushan District, which provided the necessary facilities for both theoretical instruction and practical exercises.
A total of 136 participants attended the training sessions against the planned target of 140 participants. Among them, 61 were girls and women (44.8%) and 75 were boys and men (55.2%), demonstrating strong engagement of young people of both genders in the project’s educational activities. The majority of participants—120 people (88.2%)—were young people aged between 15 and 35 years, representing the project’s primary target group.
Each participant received training in four thematic areas. The training programme combined modern interactive learning approaches with practical exercises. At the beginning of each training session, participants completed a pre-training assessment to determine their initial level of knowledge. This was followed by theoretical sessions, group discussions, practical problem-solving activities, and analysis of real-life examples from agricultural practice.
Special emphasis was placed on practical learning. Participants completed assignments in small groups and took part in demonstration activities at agricultural plots, orchards, and storage facilities. These practical sessions enabled them to become familiar with modern farming methods and apply newly acquired knowledge in conditions closely reflecting real agricultural production environments.
To enhance the effectiveness of the training, each participant received a complete set of educational and methodological materials, enabling them to continue using the acquired knowledge after completion of the sessions. At the end of each training module, participants completed a post-training assessment, and the results were compared with the initial assessment outcomes to measure progress and evaluate the effectiveness of the training programme.
An important component of the training sessions was the establishment of a feedback mechanism. Participants had the opportunity to share their experiences, ask questions, and provide suggestions for improving the training programme.
The completed training sessions demonstrated strong interest among youth in modern agricultural technologies, sustainable farming practices, and the development of their own agricultural enterprises. The active participation of girls and young women, who accounted for nearly half of all participants, was particularly significant.
The training series in Rushan District represents an important milestone in project implementation and has laid the foundation for further promotion of innovative agricultural technologies, strengthening youth capacities, and supporting sustainable rural development in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region.
