In the framework of the project «Improvement of livelihoods through adaptation to climate change in Kirgizstan and Tajikistan» based on established 5 Demo plots in two main potato growing jamoats (I.Somoni and Vahdat) of Devashtich district since September 16 till September 26 2016 for potato growers in the given district 5 Field days were conducted on topic «Analysis of three variants of cultivating potato».
Local authorities participated in conducted Field days (in one of the Field days the chairman of Devashtich district Djurazoda R.B participated), representatives of GIZ from Kirgizstan and Tajikistan, potato growers, stakeholders and representatives of Mass Media – 170 people including 30 women.
Field days participants were presented three variants of potato cultivation (yield, yield quality and comparison of variants). During the conducted Field days participants saw the positive effect of fertilizer use depending on the level of nutrients in the soil, peculiarities of potato, and use of complex fertilizer (Nitroammophoska), use of perspective sort (BIG ROZA), in time pest control of potato, due to these facts the yield of potato increased and the quality of potato improved (there are a lot of large and smooth tubers, standard seeds fraction) in comparison with traditional technology.
Data about the yield and economic effect of three variants of potato cultivation were distributed among the participants in the form of handouts.
Participants were shown the selection and storage of standard potato seeds material and they were advised to inform other potato growers about progressive technology use results of potato growing demonstrated for them during the field days.
The process of the Field day conducted in Basmanda village was broadcasted on TV channel «Safina » in September 23 2016.
