“Jovid” started the new project – support to the Land reform

International Charity Public Organization «Jovid» (ICPO Jovid) in January 1 2008 started the new project « Improving the access of local farmers to land resources through legal consultations, land rights’ advocacy and better land management in Sughd». The project will last till December 31 2009; it is focused to improve the rural population livelihood through access to the land and Land reform support in Sugd.

The main project goal, financed by European Committee is to improve the access of rural population to the land through consulting, increasing the yield of agricultural crops, and non traditional crops adoption for those regions.

ICPO «Jovid» carries out this project in six jamoats of Zafarabad and Mastchoh regions. At the begging meetings with local authorities participation in regions were organized, where “Jovid” staff introduced the project goals and objectives. Local authorities in target regions supported the project. The next step was survey in jamoats to select target villages. It was decided to cover central and outlying jamoats in regions. Thus in Mastchoh following jamoats were selected Avzikent, Buston and Matcha, and in Zafarabad region –Abdurahmony Jomy, Zafarabad and Hamid Aliev.
